Breeder’s Description – ‘Hash Plant’
|
|
One of the most famous cuttings from the North-west USA, Hash Plant? is named for its hashy-tasting, highly resinous buds. For many years it was known as an important building block for other Sensi Seeds hybrids. Now the original Hash Plant? x NL#1 hybrid is available again. This cross of 25% NL#1 and 75% Hash Plant? produces some of the strongest specimens-even experienced Dutch smokers have trouble finishing a joint. This plant has a very fast finish, abundant resin and a pleasant but deep stone. |

i gave sensi’s hash plant a whirl with my last grow, planting 5 seeds, three germinated, two of which were females. as seedlings, they had fan leaves larger than my other strains which were in flower… literally, leaves which were wider than the plant was tall. not only that, the stems for all three were between double and triple what i would expect for a plant that size. and, despite the large stems, two of the three cloned very easily – the third, not at all. this third plant, one of the females, also exhibited unusually broad fingers on the leaves, and was quite a pain in the ass as far as nutrients went. basically, it was in a constant state of new growth, with the old growth dying. but, she had other redeeming qualities which i discovered in flowering.
the “normal” hash plant female had a pretty good internodal distance, and extremely heavy branching. smell was a pepper-like spicy smell mixed with hash. when flowered, it showed very little streching… basically, it just started building up buds. unfortunately, it was a magnet for spider mites. i had read from another’s experiences with the strain that it was “mite food,” and surely enough, they showed up as soon as i started flowering. by organic means, i kept them at bay for the duration of the grow…
this plant was fairly slow at starting flowering, but packed on weight rapidly around the third and fourth weeks. not only that, but as i approached the fifth and sixth weeks, it started pouring out new calyxes everywhere. before this, the calyx-to-leaf ratio was excellent, afterwards… it was damn near insane. at 50 days, i had to chop it due to the mites, but it could have gone at least another week.
the super broad-leafed female was very compact, but not that heavy of a brancher. it basically ended up as a dozen or so branches which were perfectly upright, each 30-60 cm in length. this girl started flowering significantly faster than her sister – she looked at least a week ahead as far as maturation went. not only that, this girl put out tons of trichomes very early in flowering, and kept stacking them on until the very last day. this plant was also very sweet and fruity in scent, as compared to the spicy, hashy nature of the other. it also resisted the spider mite invasion for quite some time.
yeild on this one was much, much lower than her sister… quite leafy, but insanely resinous. also, no double stacked calyxes… eh. the smoke is also a bit sweeter, and definitely more potent. it also had a head-high component to it which was missing in the other plant. this girl was also a bit faster in finishing – by 45 days, it was ripe for the pickin’.
i was surprised at the obvious differences between the two plants, as it’s certainly a commercialized strain. but, as both plants were magnificent, i’m not complaining! if you’re looking for a solid indica to add to your collection, look no further. the price of the seeds might seem a bit steep, but they’re worth every penny.

Grew a number of Hash Plant seeds from Sensi. Was trying to replicate the NYC HP, which in fact the g13/HP from Sensi.
Easy plant to grow. Not sensitive to pH problems or issues with over nuting. Can easily eat up anything you give it. Though expensive seeds, would be appropriate to the first ti …continued |
