The e-gold.com administrators assess if the info you provide is plausible. If
you put nonsense info into the account contact info fields, they may put a
fund limit the account. You can get help making it look legit by using a
random alias generator. (http://rumandmonkey.com/widgets/toys/namegen/2761/
For an address, use a public place like a library in a town near to where you
live. The reason - funds you mail to exchangers will bear a postmark. If that
mark is a long distance from your stated address, the exchanger might get
worried. For a phone number, use the public place for the area code and the
prefix. Make the last 4 digits up. Google the phone number to be sure it has
not already been published to the web.
For an email address, use something that works. For example, make an anonymous
account at g-mail, hushmail, or yahoo.
e-gold.com records your IP when you make the account. I personally don't do
this, but for maximum security hide your IP with a proxy so that the IP cannot
be traced to you. TOR (the onion router) is an option used by many. See our
"Maximum
Security Section" For the direction & download links to set
up "TOR" on your computer, Its Completely Free & Easy to install
& use.
e-gold.com will not accept funds directly, so you have to send funds to an
exchanger who will convert the funds to your e-gold account. There are many
exchangers. One that is currently popular is The Bullion Exchange. Last I
looked, the fee on the Bullion Exchange is 3%. Minimum fee is $2.
Now, obtain a USPS domestic money order from a post office counter (costs 90
cents I think). You do not need to tell the clerk your name or to whom you are
sending the money. Make the MO payable to your exchanger. Use the alias and
real address you used on the e-gold account. Put your e-gold account number in
the "memo" section of the MO.
Send the MO to the exchanger with the following or similar instructions:
Please deposit the enclosed money order to:
e-gold account xxxxxx
(use alias info on your e-gold account for the
following)
Name
Address
Phone
e-mail address
Preferred contact method: e-mail
Mail it off to the exchanger, and 2-4 days later, you'll receive an email that
your e-gold account has been funded, and you're reading to spend. Your real
name is on nothing. Your IP never gets logged. If things turn sour, there is
nothing to tie you to your or your vendor's e-gold accounts.
