an open forum on Thursday, August 30, from 9:00 a.m. to
11:00 a.m. Tonya Davis is the author and citizen sponsor of
The Ohio Compassionate Use Act, Miss Tonya Davis was
"personally invited" by speaker of the Ohio State House
office to come and speak.

Medical cannabis proponent Tonya Davis to address Ohio
State Speaker Of
The House, Republican Jon Husted
A bill to allow seriously ill patients with qualifying conditions to use cannabis
for
medical applications under a doctors supervision. The bill has recently been
drafted and is awaiting introduction to the Ohio State Legislature.
Polls have shown that more than 70% of Ohio residents support allowing
seriously ill patients to use medical cannabis under a doctor’s supervision.
Tonya Davis is the State Director of the Ohio chapter of the American
Association for Medical Cannabis, the Medical Cannabis Director of North Ohio
NORML, and the founder of http://www.mmjactionnetwork.com.
She is also a free-lance writer for Treating Yourself Alternative Medicine
Journal. Tonya Davis is a domestic violence survivor who was beaten so badly
that she permanently suffers from scoliosis and is confined to a wheelchair. She
also suffers from crippling arthritis, inflamed bowel disease with adhesions,
and pseudohypoparathyroidism which prevents her body from absorbing nutrients
necessary for survival.
Tonya Davis's personal political philosophy is to be completely
anti-drug use, but in recent years she discovered that cannabis is more
effective in treating her symptoms than many of the pharmaceutical chemicals her
doctors have prescribed for her. When I have it, medical cannabis works better
than a lot of other medicines on the market and it allows me to eliminate 30 of
the 78 pills I use each day to survive, she said. Cannabis is the best
expectorant and anti-inflammatory I have found. It also eases my pain and
relieves my anxiety about being terminally ill.
Her personal experience has turned Davis into a dynamic political activist
and proponent for legalizing medical cannabis in Ohio. I am literally fighting
for my life, she said, and for so many other people who just want to live with a
little dignity and not be all drugged up and in a nursing home, or homeless. I
don't have a criminal record, and, as a U.S. citizen I deserve treatment and
protection equal to that enjoyed by the five patients the federal government has
approved to use medical cannabis. Tonya Davis will be accompanied by at least
four other medical cannabis users from House District 37 who are also
constituents of Ohio House Speaker Republican Jon Husted.
