If you are into citrus-fruits then this is the plant for you. Very enjoyable plant to grow. Germination of 2 seeds without fuss. Growth rate during the veg cycle is somewhat rapid with the correct conditions. Within one week I had 8″ seedlings. I tried to keep clear of using ferts and nutes until th …continued |

I have wanted to grow California Orange for several years. My desire stemmed from the breeders descriptions of the smell and taste. I love oranges! Let?s start this off by saying I was horribly disappointed. California Orange is without a doubt the most unstable, underpowered strain I have ever grow …continued |

Wow! I had a good feeling that this classic strain would impress me, and it has! After two grows of California Orange, I can say that I will continue to grow this frosty, stinky strain in the future. The seed itself is smaller in size and germinates quickly in a warm environment, usually pops above soil within 4 days. Every seed of this strain that I have planted has grown up to be female— which makes me believe that it is somewhat femenized. (Either that, or I’m really lucky!) The pre-flowers of this strain tend to be large and super-plump. The pistils are extremely visible, like super-long eyelashes! As the plant matures and goes into flower, the calyx become majorly swollen, quite juicy lookin’ really. I’ve called them literally edible many times in my chats about this strain. (When trimming, I tasted a couple of the calyx’s— it was a sweeter taste than the AK-48 that I’ve grew out under flouro’s.) These particular plants in the photos went into an early flower because they grew up in October and November, the beginning of winter. This strain often grows a rather large main cola but can have many far reaching side-shoots forming a bushier rather than lanky plant. When it comes time to harvest, all of the calyx are plumped out and densely packed, ressembling corn on the cob. The leaves, fan leaves included, have large, sharp resin glands glistening off almost every bit of greenery. In fact, the trim makes some incredibly potent cannabutter that just knocks your head out! After a short (10 day) drying and natural air curing, the bud turns light ashy green in color with a heavy amount of amber-colored “hairs.” The taste is pleasureable and light n’ lemony. The high is somewhat “uppy” at first, as I found myself doing dishes and mopping the floors while smoking the Cali-O. If you smoke larger amounts, your body *does* sort of give out on you but your mind is still sharp and active. My only complaint about this strain is that I wish it was a higher yielder… otherwise, I highly suggest this straing to all Ogers.
Garden Information for this report
I have grown the California Orange outdoors. Here on the Gulf Coast in Florida, USA, the sun is intense throughout the winter with cold nights but little threat of freeze. I really feel lucky to have the warm days and cool nights for the plants!
The soil I use is simple, really:
35% perlite 15% vermiculite 50% common potting soil *****I add a small haldful of a pellet-form organic fertilizer (4-5-7) from my local nursery, mixed in well.
I water the plants using the soak/dry lifting method. As for nutrients, I feed weekly with a half-solution of Peter’s 20-20-20. Once in flower, I use IONIC Bloom once a week… twice if needed.

This was a non priority strain in my garden for a few months, so it did not get the “usual” attention my ladies often receive.
I vegged only a week or 2 under a 400W MH in a soil mix consisting of heavy + light potting soil (thouroughly cleansed), blood + bone meal, bat and seabird guano, lime, p …continued |
