Concealing Small Amounts Of Medicine
To Send Back From Amsterdam or Elsewhere
Below The First Part Of This Story, You Will Find Step By Step

am not suggesting using this for transporting or mailing something

A recent trip to Amsterdam created several trips to The Dampkring, Tuide Kamer, Grey Area, and others. I’m a hash fan, though I ran across some nice buds – they just aren’t as transportable in my view.
Anyway – purge that, this is about transporting valuable items that you would prefer be unnoticed by the official or the curious.
Find a candle, preferably one with a harder ‘hurricane’ shell which allows you to burn the candle down without affecting the wall of the candle. I found a couple of gems at an aboriginal art store right off Dam Square. The clerk was amazing on the diggeree-do – they had dozens of beautiful handmade ones. I passed that up for a cool t-shirt and a couple of candles.
We burned the candles down quite a ways, enough for two tea candles to fit. I used some tea candles (acquired at a nearby Albert Heijn.. or was it Hema?) — i got red and green since the candles I had were red and brown.
I packed our Glad wrapped valuables into the perimeter of the base of where we had burned down the candles. Melted some wax from tea candles, mixed to get approximate color — let cool to almost solidifying, and poured some in to cover the valuables. Let a cool a bit more.. put a wick from one of the tea candles you melted on top of the base you just poured. Pour again.. this time to the top. If you’re a perfectionist.. wait until it entirely cools and then pour one last one – making this pour very hot. Wax shrinks as it solidifies, so this last step finishes off the smallish dent you will probably have. The result should look like a candle not yet burned… the core doesn’t have to match exactly – it’s a common enough candle design to have a different color core..
Wrapped the candles up like gifts, packed them in boxes I brought along (as well as the plastic wrap — bring your own supplies: plastic wrap, tape, boxes, wrapping paper to avoid having to score them in a foreign place. You could bring candles and tea candles too, but I prefer to buy a little SOMETHING from the area if I can ;-))
We had planned a train trip to Belgium (south of Holland) and so I took the packages to Brugge and mailed them from there.. no fuss – and 24$ airmail.
4 days later, and packages arrived back in the States! I little careful chiseling with a screw driver and valuables recovered just fine. Be careful extracting the wax you poured.. besides wanting to keep your valuables unharmed, you want a candle and souvenir you can enjoy. After you’re done — put in one of those tea candles and enjoy the flame!

You’ll need a large candle (3" wide by 6" tall), a couple of metal 35mm film cans, a drill with a 1.5" hole saw, and a method for melting wax.
Start with a candle.
…your oregano, and your film cans.
Put your oregano into the film cans.
Remove the instructions from the bottom of the candle
(be careful because you will use this later).
Start drilling out the candle from the bottom…
…saving the wax.
Drill straight down…
…just over 4.5" deep.
When the hole is finished, insert the first oregano-filled film can.
Next, get everything together that you will use to melt the wax you drilled out…
…and start melting some of the wax.
Once melted, pour it slowly into the candle…
…so that it just covers the film can.
Once that wax starts to harden…
…place the second oregano-filled film can into the candle.
Melt more wax and cover the second film can until
it’s about an inch from the top, and let it harden.
Fill the remaining space in two steps…
…so that it doesn’t melt the wax underneath…
Once hardened, it will need to be shaved smooth.
At this point, you want to reattach the label to the bottom of the candle
(a hot glue gun works well)…
so that it looks like it did before you did anything.
You might want to wrap it once with Siran wrap when finished.
